DEEP PURPLE BACK IN THE SADDLE
When asked how Deep Purple’s sound had evolved on their upcoming album, Abandon, manager Bruce Payne told JAMTV, “It hasn’t. It’s Deep Purple.”
Slated for a May 15 street date, Abandon is Deep Purple’s 24th studio release since their 1968 inception. Unlike 1996’s Purpendicular, which Payne called a “soft, transitional work,” Abandon hearkens back to “classic, heavy Purple.” Classic, except for the absence of guitarist and co-founder Richie Blackmore.
